Air Liquide joins in for Sustainable Development Week

02/04/2010
From April 1 - 7, 2010, Air Liquide will join its efforts for Sustainable Development Week in France.

More than 200 indicators are regularly measured within this framework, including:

 - CO2 emissions: 3% reduction over five years for hydrogen units, resulting in a decrease of 100,000 tonnes a year, equivalent to emissions of 50,000 cars;

- Diversity and the place of women in the Group: progression in the number of female engineers and executives to 24% from 14% between 2003 and 2009, for a 70% increase.

Through the Air Liquide Foundation, the Group has also made a commitment as a socially responsible company in three main areas: Health/Respiration, Environment and Micro Initiatives sponsored by Air Liquide employees. To date, 70 projects in 30 countries are currently being supported or under review by the Air Liquide Foundation.

The Group has structured its Sustainable Development approach around four priority areas:
- Developing the potential of women and men;
- Preserving life and the environment;

- Innovating for tomorrow;

- Creating value for its shareholders.

36% of revenues come from activities that contribute to preserving the environment and life. Over 60% of the R&D budget is set aside for work in Sustainable Development.
